“UPCOMING” – BIG DATA FOR HEALTH POLICY SYMPOSIUM – Derry Jan 20-21, 2020

The MIDAS Consortium is hosting BIG DATA FOR HEALTH POLICY SYMPOSIUM MIDAS project to Magee on 20th -21st January in Derry (Northern Ireland). This project is due to finish in Feb 2020 and this is the last face to face of a very large consortium of 60+ across Europe and America. This will not only bring consortium but extended health practitioners and policy leads to the event.

There will be a showcase of outputs of MIDAS, Other PM18 Project Outputs, plus lots more on Health Care Data, Big Data & Ethics.

This will be a free event of MIDAS demonstrations across all the health policy departments (BSO/HSE – Republic of Ireland/Basque Country /Finland) and some training and development workshops around the value of data, data science, GDPR & Honest Broker. The event is free to attend (but you have to register) and we are extending our invitations to a wide range of people – such as politicians, policymakers, clinical staff, charities, education providers, etc.

2. Local and International Travel

If you are coming from within Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, The Ulster University- Magee Campus is reachable by one or a combination of transport options such as Train, Bus, or Taxi.

If you travel to Derry by Train, the city offers free bus transport from the train station to the Main Bus Station (after which is 10 minutes’ walk to the Campus or you can use a Taxi).

Airport Arrivals

  1. If you or any other delegates are travelling from Belfast City & International Airport, you can use the link with The Airporter Shuttle Bus: Delegates can enter “MIDAS” at checkout to avail of 20% off. 
  2. For those travelling through Dublin Airport, NOT many direct options. The available options include:
    • Visit https://www.translink.co.uk/ website for cheaper options
    • Take the bus/train from the Dublin airport to Belfast, then bus/train to Derry -longer
    • If (many) arriving at the same time (maybe car rent -not sure the costs). -shorter.

There will be a free tour of the State of the Art Intelligent Systems Research Center (ISRC), ScaniHub, Robotic Centre, BCI, and MEG Lab 21st Jan (Tuesday 08.am -09.am). You can pre-register by sending us an email. Onsite registration will also be available
